Overuse Syndromes

Overuse Syndromes

At the Office of Orthopaedic Medicine and Surgery we are experienced with diagnosing and treating overuse syndromes such as shin splints, patello-femoral syndrome, pitcher’s elbow, shoulder impingement syndrome, spondylolysis, and spondylolisthesis.  Several factors contribute to overuse syndrome.  In sports, under trained athletes may develop overuse syndromes from doing too much too soon.  Growth spurts, body structure, improper equipment, nutritional factors, and hormonal factors can all cause excessive stress on one part of the body.  Untreated conditions can lead to significant pain and even disability.

Please visit our patient education library for more information on overuse syndromes.
