Cara earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors from Virginia Tech in 2018, followed by her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2021. She began her OT career at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia, where she treated patients with a wide range of neurological and orthopedic conditions. She also served as the sole occupational therapist conducting clinical driver evaluations at the hospital. Passionate about education and professional development, Cara has delivered numerous in-services and presentations to fellow clinicians and students. She has also been invited to speak on clinical driving evaluations at several state occupational therapy association conferences, including those in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. Her clinical experience spans a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, MS, muscular dystrophy, stroke (CVA), spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury (TBI), cerebral palsy, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition, she assesses and treats orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity, such as arthritis, amputations, fractures, nerve injuries, and various forms of tendonitis. Cara values a compassionate approach to patient-centered care. She specifically enjoys getting to know each patient personally, advocating for their goals, and helping them return to meaningful activities—whether that means regaining independence with daily tasks or returning to sports and recreation. Outside of her work as an occupational therapist, Cara enjoys traveling, walking, and spending time with her family in Roanoke, Virginia.
Cara is located at our Dupont clinic.
